The setup of this book was a lot more engrossing than what was being set up. Of all the ‘magic land’ books I’ve ever read I’ve usually enjoyed the new world a lot more than the setup, but not in this case.
Once we finally got the new place, I found it all a bit drab, drawn out, and unpleasant. That may have been the whole point. Some interesting ideas, a nice dog, and it left me with some vivid mental images. Personally I wouldn’t rush to return to a magic land that Mr King came up with.
